Sugar spun topping ~ first attempt

Good evening ladies!

Here we are at week four from the Mish Mash challenge with the theme nail art technique you have never tried before....phew that should be a tough one for the experienced ladies participating at this challenge but for an amateur such as myself, it was pretty easy to choose!

So I've decided it was about time to try the sugar spun technique and for that I've watched a few tutorials and then I gave it a go ^^ it's really easy, a bit messy but doable. I started with a sheer white (in two coats) Farmec #50, after that I did the cupcakes with acrylic colors, it's a lot easier than with nail polish, then I did the sugar spun which was quite fun. I ended everything with a top-coat and boy how wrong I was! Because the sugar spun creates somekind of a 3D effect you should leave it alone, without top-coat! I got a bubbly (a few ones but still) finish that cries :))

Thanks for reading
Kisses!

P.S. I almost forgot, here's a helpful tutorial:

  26. I have no idea how you managed to get your spun sugar tendrils only on the cupcakes! Or did that require judicious use of clean-up?? ^_^ I refuse to show these to my daughter because she would demand I re-do her cupcake nails with this technique, and I'm *quite* sure I'm incapable of doing this on her tiny nails! :)

    1. Hello! I've used the strips destined for french manicure and when you lift up the toothpick to put the tendrils on the nails you hold your nails vertically not horzontally like in the video above. I hope you understood what I'm saying :)
